Two Strong Ankles

Strong Ankles

When a single ankle weakens, the burden falls upon the strong ankle to overcompensate to keep the body stable. Then, the knee, in its attempt to mitigate the strain on the overburdened strong ankle, assumes its share of the load and also begins to overcompensate.
With each step taken, the hip bears witness to the struggle and soon attempts to accommodate the overcompensation of the knee caused by the overcompensation of the strong ankle. Yet, in its noble sacrifice, the hip too becomes strained.
Weakened ankles give rise to weakened knees, which in turn beget weakened hips. Eventually, the body brakes down and the ability to walk becomes an arduous task, burdened by the consequences of a single weak ankle.
Olivia will always be my strong ankle and I will forever be hers. We made this promise to each other in college. We made this promise to each other at our engagement. And soon, we will make this promise once more at our wedding. Never will walking ever become an arduous task.
To all who will be in attendance, thank you for spending this day with us. See you soon.
